The professional training as an equine physiotherapist and osteotherapist that I received at the Deutsches Institut für Pferde Osteopathie DIPO ( German Institute for Equine Ostepathy ) in 2006 built upon my earlier degree as a human physiotherapist.
The courses I took during my training in this field included the following subjects:
- anatomy, physiology, biomechanics
- pathology of the musculoskeletal system
- special manual examination and treatment techniques
- dentistry
- saddle studies
- basics of hoof orthopedics
- education and training of horses
- special exercises therapy subsequent to injuries
- measures accompanying the practice
Personal motivation
Horses aren’t stiff due to stubbornness. They can only show their illnesses by refusing to perform.
This knowledge opens up the opportunity for me to gain the animals’ trust so that
they are able to relax and thus are willing to let me help them.
I have had this understanding for a long time, I only lacked the technique to apply
it.
The success that I saw demonstrates that a recovery can be achieved by a
systematic treatment.
The re-structuring of the physiological coordination of movements is a process
which requires time, knowledge, experience and attention. I offer these
qualifications to give you and your horse the feeling of being in safe hands.
Before entrusting a therapist with the treatment of your horse you should inform yourself about his or her qualifications and training. This is the safest way to
ensure that your horse is treated in the best possible manner.
Certificates like the FN, DIPO or ZVKe.V. guarantee a thourough therapeutical knowledge and promise a sufficient treatment in the long run. This can help to
protect you from fraud or disappointments and your horse from severe injuries.
